i have a 2006 cummins, i had a injector go bad, i sent the injectors, and injector pump out to be tested and modified.

now i have stage 3 injectors a stage 1 cp3 pump and a new knock!!!

my knock sounds and acts just like the one described here. mine knocks under very light throttle/load and i hear a slight metallic rattle which i was told was common on '06 common rail engines because of the Y on the valve train. i have adjusted the valves 3 times and made them a little tighter on the the last adjustment, still no change!

the trucks runs very well, fuel economy is 17 to 18 in traffic and 21 on the highway at 80mph it is a mega cab dually at that!

the power is very good, i roll into it once it shifts into second and can hear the rear tires spin!

i have other mods, but my concern was when the injector went bad i had dump a lot of diesel in the engine oil, though i did not run it hard at this time and the knock was not there until after i but the truck back together with the moded injectors and cp3.

no hard starts, no oil loss, my conclusion was the cp3 due to the stage 1 mod?

any thoughts???

mine has probs with hard starts at time too... most of the time its when it has only run for 10-20 mins then shut it off to get food in the store come back out to start it and truns over for a good while then i stop and try it agian then it starts ....also have notice more of a knocking noise but truck really seems to run fine gets great fuel milage so. maybe im wrong and im not getting the clutch pedal in the exact spot and the motor sounds normal im not sure. but i hate to take it to the dealer b/c they take so long ...and half the time they arent sure of what needs fixed and have to change something 5 times

maybe im just crazy what do you guys think

my 06 starts fine everytime. it just gets noise after warming up and the longer it runs, sounds sick but great fuel economy and if i hammer it it runs hard and the noise seems to fade out.

buddy, i have the same type of knock, i think it is your CP3.

i have a '06 cummins with:
stage 3 injectors
stage 1 CP3
snow stage 3
and other typical bolt ons

my truck did not start making this noise until i had the pump modified and it only does it when it is above 80 degrees or hotter, if it is cooler out then i noticed it is quite.

i do also adjusted the valves about 3 times. hope this helps you
