Exclamation Guys check your 4th injector line. STICKY!!!!!

there are over 2,000 on backorder from cummins and the dealer also. There is the plastic blue holder that bolts to your motor and after a while of the engine rattling things around it will loosen this plastic blue holder and make a pin hole in your injector line # 4 and you will have diesel spray all over your motor and smell of diesel fuel inside your trucks for weeks. I was driving my truck home one night and smelled diesel fumes. I pulled over and my whole entire motor is covered in diesel and dripping all over the ground. So guys check your injector #4 first, I believe the plastic blue holder nut is a 6mm to 8mm. Just make sure its tightened. Alot of people been having this same problem and like to warn everybody I can about this problem. Hope this help you guys out.

just went out and checked all mine. Was able to turn the nut pretty easy with a small 8mm wrench. My question is how tight should they be. Tighten until you cant go any more or just until you have to put slight pressure. Also what happens if it does break does the dealership give you something to drive or are you just without a vehicle indefinitly. Are they giving a time frame for getting part

I was actually lucky and one buddy had one but i had to drive almost 2 hours one way to get. well worth it. National backorder from cummins. The 8mm should be tight. All that happends is the holder becomes loose and wears a pin hole in the injector line and high psi of fuel running through it. So imagine cutting a hole in a garden hose and having the water on. It sprays everywhere. just imagine diesel fuel over everything. it sucks, trust me. there is no time frame on the parts. They'll tell you guys you are basically sol if you dont have a warranty for sure and the 8mm should be tight so it doesn't rattle back loose again. If i can find my old line i will take some pictures of where it is discolored from where the holder had rubbed on it enough to make a leak.

Just replaced mine last week. You are 100% right about smelling like diesel for weeks. Mine still stinks and i've washed the engine and undercarriage. I kept the old fuel line and i'm going to have it brazed. The dealer said I got the last one and they have no idea of when the parts will be coming.

Thanks for the info.....i was hearing some noise that sounded like air leaking.. what it really was, was the blue insulation around the injectors that was vibrating everytime the injector went off... i tighten the #8 bolt... and now no more noise(and hopefully no busted line)

just open the hood and it is the fourth injector line from the front and it is not from rubbing a hole in the line it causes the line to crack and you can not believe how much fuel the cp3 can pump in a very short time. the new cummins ones are made from different metal this may stop the problem the new ones have a whiter color metal and have a torx screw instead of the 8mm head bolt for the isolator

last year i lost # 4 also, the blue clamp came off. It didnt wear a hole though, it let the line VIBRATE too much. The line split at the little neck or ridge in it where it goes into the inj. ri\ght at the nut.
