You would think with this kind of problem and if this is happening alot that this would prompt a recall. I mean fuel spraying on a hot engine would seem to be a bit of a danger.

My truck has had a tick in the engine for about a month now. I have seen this thread and another one about the 4th injector line so I thought I'd check it out this morning. I put a wrench on each one, all were good except for #4. I got at least 3 full turns out of it, maybe more. In fact, it was so loose, and had to tighten it so much that I thought the bolt may have been stripped. To the OP, thanks for the post, you saved me alot of headache. Took the truck out for a drive and the tick is gone. Also, don't know if it matters, but our truck is about 50 miles shy of 40K miles as of now.

every #4 or used to be #6 when the common rail was first in production has had the loosened bolt problem, recently with the #4 issues ive seen alot that were stripped out from the factory because the robot that tightened it cross threaded it and caused it to loosen up, thus the extra vibration causes the line to rupture . Its always good practice to go through and check these bolts every so often, could save you alot of trouble in the long run

Changed my fuel filter this morning and put a wrench to mine. 2 and 3 were tight, 5 and 6 a little loose, and 4 was the loosest of the bunch. I'll add this to my list of stuff to do when I change the fuel filter from now on. Good info.
