Motor gettin HOT.

just picked up an 06 and it goes over 200 all the time, but it will come back down quickly. my questions are 1) is this normal. 2) is there a lower temp thermostat i can put in, and 3) if this isnt normal what could be the cause?

Mine will get up to about 200 before the thermostat opens. It then comes down to about 180-190 normal operating temp.

If its a hot humid day mine will run 200 on the highway , does it ever run above that , and when it comes down does it go back up to 200?

I would go get a new thermostat to start. Then if that doesn't fix it, take a look at the water pump.

everday driving, it will go over 200 about the width of the needle, the drop down below 200 the same. but it does that all the time, making me think the thermostat is either not working right or is set at a temp. above 200 maybe 210?

well i had to drive it 6hrs back here without the smarty and it done the same thing, after loading the smarty it doesnt get any warmer. but tonight i got a little rowdy on a back road. stopped and boosted it up a lil bit and let er rip till about 80 and looked down at the engine temp and saw it was about 3 notches over 200. so i freaked and cutting the heater on full blast LOL. where can i find new thermostats?
