Leaking Somewhere

I have some kind of oil leaking somewhere in the area of the starter. I can not seem to find out where it is coming from, ive never found any drops on the ground, but there is definitely something there and there are little drops of oil speckled all the down the truck on the frame, and rear axle. Does anybody have any idea what this could be??? Thanks!!!

The first thing I would do is check the oil level in your crankcase. Sometimes when an injector fails it fills the crankcase with fuel and then the oil/fuel mix comes out of the crankcase vent tube and speckles the trucks with this mix.

After you get that scare out of the way then I would look at the inspection cover area for a rear seal weeping. It seems I remember a few trucks were having problems with this. I will try to find some posts about it.

Just throwing some idea's out here. The front axle pinion seal. The rocker housing. And the CP3's are pretty common to leak lately, but that is a fuel leak.

It could be just normal slobber coming out of the vent tube as well.

Maybe a Ford guy at your work peed on it? Sorry. Look at the radiator cap right where the overflow tube comes out. These are known to leak. I put a zip tie on mine and it took care of it. It is a known problem. It needs a clamp but they don't come with one from the factory. BBRam mentioned the leaking CP3's some have had. You may run your hand underneath yours to see if it's weeping a little. Past that, pressure wash it real good and then look for the culprit.

I had something similar that I thought could be a rear main, black "oil" looking stuff downside of bellhousing and spreading out underneath. Turned out the return fitting for the injectors on the back of the head was loose, fuel would leak and somehow wouldn't appear to 3/4 of the way down, got 1/2- 5/8 of a turn on that pesky thing. I pulled the valve cover to give me a bit more room to get in there.

My CP3 leaked on the drivers side down the control arm and that. At first I didn't really notice anything but dampness on the area. Then one day it went and boy did it ever!!
The other suggestions are common too.
Good Luck and hope it isn't anything too serious.

Well I went to the dealer yesterday and sure enough it was the front axle pinion seal. They had the part in stock and its all fixed for no charge. Gotta love the warranty. Thanks for all your help!

I just recently had a front pinion seal on my 06 go. Wonder if it is a common thing?
