The TS lockup can be programmed to lock/unlock at a desired speed. The big difference is it unlocks automatically vice the switch requires you to manual unlock when stopping. If you dont unlock it, the engine will stall.

check engine light on - with resistor
![]() Quote:
Completed my TQ lockup switch just as you have shown on my mid-year '06. Everything works just as described. The only concern that I have is that I'm getting the check engine light even with the 1/2w 33 ohm resistor. Would the 10 ohm remedy the problem? |

The 10 ohm will likely cure that. Right now the ECM is seeing more resitance than it expects and it's tripping the CEL because it thinks there's a ground fault. |

Well, you hit the nail on the head! Swapped out the 33 for the 10 & so far-so good. Thanks !!! I'll bet it would be a smart idea to wire a hidden switch somewhere under the dash just in case someone would ever happen to drive the truck and start to wonder what that little button does......

Last night after replacing the 33ohm resistor with the 10ohm the test drive yielded everything good as I reported, but today while pulling my 20ft stock trailer loaded I heard a "boing" & looked down to see the check engine light on. Only this time it went into limp mode. This all happened within the first 2 or 3 miles of the trip.I immediantly hooked up my tuner to reset the code so that I could complete the haul. I did not think to write down the code number's, however the first was: trans - low pressure, the second was: unknown. I did not try to use the switch again untill I was nearly home. It then locked up perfectly. This truck only has 30k miles & has never shown a code before. Any more suggestions would be Greatly Appreciated!

Just so I will know...
Yea. I know. I'm one of these guy's that tends to be over cautious on things. I soldered all of my connections & grounded to one of the copper ground connectors thats under the dash on each side of the steering colume. Does it matter whether the resistor is on the trans side or the ground side? Also the resistor that I'm using is a 1/4 watt 10 ohm. Radio Shach did not have it in the 1/2 watt like I bought in the 33 ohm. My switch has the third connection for the light but I didn't hook it up.

1/4 watt is fine, that's what's in mine. It shouldn't matter in the least where the resistor is, but mine is located on the ground side. Try it without the light or get rid of that connection to weed that out. Any additional draw on that circuit could be what's throwing it out of whack. |

I used a switch that has a third connector for its light, but I never hooked it up the light.

A friend of mine did that exact same thing to his F250 gasser but instead of a dash mounted switch he used an old fashions style dim switch and mounted that in the floor board. Due to the fact that he has multiple people driving his truck he put an on/off switch so that he didn't have to to worry about someone using it that has no clue what it was for.
