the snow ball is rolling

I just ordered my Brute Force intake and muffler delete kit and now Im thinking about power box/programer upgrades. My question is, how long should I wait before doing this type of mod. My truck has less than 2000 miles and Im not sure if I should wait until the engine has a little more break in time. I have to be honest, I dont now or plan to do any towing. I bought this truck so I could have a full size, solid axle truck that was tough and still got decent mph. I've heard that it takes longer to break in the engine if you dont put a load on it, like when you tow. Is this true? Im also wondering if a programer such as Bully Dog is detectable by the dealership. Say I set the computer back to stock before I brought it in, would the tech still know and deny warranty work? Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

I'd wait a few thousand more miles before doing anything to the truck. I'm leaving mine stock till the warranty runs out. Then it will be BOMBs away!!!!!!

Of course I was just kidding!!

I started ripping my truck apart the day I got it home. I'm just trying to be easy on it while I still have a warranty. The dealer can detect that you had a downloader on there by checking the key cycles. Plug in boxes are supposedly undetectable but I think if the dealer trys hard enough they can find traces in the computer that something was there.
Running the truck hard and/or towing will definitely help it break in too....

Ha ha! Good one! You had me going for a second until I read your sig. Man, you sure have done alot of big time mods for such a new truck. Hell, its not even 07 yet! I guess you dont worry much about the warranty. I try to drive the truck pretty aggressively but I dont want to mess anything up. This is my first new truck so Im a little hesitant to Still though, Im a power junkie so I dont know if I can wait until the warranty expires to BOMB it. And I blame guys like you!!!! Damn cumminsforum.com!! :fist:

I'm a power junkie too. That's why I have done the things I have. I can't just drive a stock truck around! That would be uncivilized!!!

Plus everything can easily be taken off the truck if needed....

Yea, I have a problem. Actually, I learned about the Work Horse the day AFTER I ordered my Brute Force:fist: Oh well, I'll be interested in what people have to say about it. Im also wondering if people with the brute force will be able to use the work horse filter. The kit listed for over $400.00 and Im not about to spend that much on an intake unless it gets rave reviews from cumminsforum.com. Besides that, my truck is stock so anything flowing better than the oem is an improvement. Once I step up to a different turbo, then I'll worry about more airflow. By that time Im sure a few people will have purchased the Work Horse and I'll know if its worth
