Commander Rail Press feature

Is the Rail Pressure only available if the truck is equipped with a Quad Box? I was reading the Commander Fuel Press install info Quad e-mailed me, and for rail press it says to tap a wire on the Xillaraider. What if I don't have a box, I'll just using the Commander as a stand-alone gauge for the time being?

I am getting anxious for this weekend to do the Commander install. Missed the UPS man today, so I'll have to wait til tomorow for the Pillar mount. But the UPS man left a "Attempted delivery" note, so I know it's here!

I mentioned this in another thread (I can't remember if it were here or on TDR) & got bashed for asking. Hope you get better luck that I did. I think I remember Quad saying that you tap the green wire on the rail pressure. I haven't messed w/ it yet though. There is actually two wires that aren't in the directions for a stock truck - that rail pressure one & a brown one. The brown one is an extra that will be used for future updates by Quad.

Why would you get bashed for asking that? Well, hopefully that doesn't happen to you in the future. Most folks around here are extremely helpful.

JK of course. I'm interested in the answer myself as I may go back to running just a Quad box soon...

:THREAT: I know, I know! Stupid question! I got an answer over at DTR. Yelloz28 over there says tap the middle wire on the rail sensor. On my truck, the middle wire is pink. At least, that is, if I was actually looking at the rail sensor! It's gotta be, it's the only sensor I see actually on the rail itself...
Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong!

I asked it in the "urgent" section because I was doing the install right then & wanted a fast response. For some reason, they felt the need to get all worked up instead of just giving some assistance. I gave up trying to get that wire hooked up. I'm glad to see you have had better results than I did. Now, to go hook that wire up to the middle one. Thanks!!!

Just tap the middle wire on the rail sensor and you are good to go.

The only things the Commander cannot do in stand alone mode is de-fuel and cold engine protection as we do not monkey with the truck to make it run worse than stock.

Everything else will work and it sounds like we need to fix that in the instructions. I am sure they are like that so people get the correct wire when a module is installed.

So no matter what module or anything else as long as you connect to the middle wire on the plug that is going into the factory sensor you will be in business!

Thanks Quad! By the way, it is installed and works great! So far, I'm impressed! I just hope I don't wreck the truck, cause going down the road I catch myself watching the Commander instead of whats ahead!
