New nozzle on and CR sounds like 24v?

This normal? Installed my 50 hp's and there is a distinct difference in sound on take off. At low rpm or slight lug during take off it clatters like a 24 valve. Not quite as loud but close. It clears up with rpm. Going to pull the valve cover and check it over in the A.M. Just haven't heard any one mention it before. Thanks guys.

I assume it's from the timing. Larger injectors advances the timing.

Does the Edge J/A have the ability to reduce the timing? If so crank it down if the noise bothers you.

Not so much the noise bothering me. Does it with the Edge off too I think. Just making sure it isn't mechanical or my fault on the install. Taking the valve cover off in a minute to recheck everything. Do the pushrods drop into a smaller hole out of view on the lifter? I noticed they stuck to the rocker when removing it but the just dropped back in the hole. Do they need to be seated perfectly in something or do you just drop them in and they sit flat on the lifter? Thanks again.

Yeah it almost sound like completely cold start and drive. Only the temp gauge is 185-190. I'm halfway through remove and retorque of the exhaust lifters and checking pushrods.

Just retorqued and checked push rods. Seems quieter on short drive than yesterday. We'll see going to work and back. Thanks all!

Still plenty of clatter. Just the added fuel. Cummins mech went for a spin and chalked it up to that, said it runs good.

How long you lived in Yuma? My wife is from there and her family still lives there.

I just replaced #2 nozzle. I threw a misfire code. Same symtoms as you are describing, I think. Are these new tips or used? When your truck is warmed up does it do it worse than when it is cold? In neutral, if you hammer the diesel pedal does it act like it is flooding out, and blow white smoke? When I started off in second gear it was like I had to feather it, then as I got threw the gears it cleared up!! I don't remember my truck noise changing much when I went from stock to the 90's! All trucks are different though. Hope this helps a little bit!
