if you do try this make sure that you polish any burrs that you feel or dont feel use some real fine sand paper, if you dont when you step on the pedal the truck will have a different response and you will have to give it fuel to start. That is just some of the things to look out for.

wicked diesel i respect what you've built and everything you've done for the diesel world, and later on when im ready to step up to the big cp3 im going to you.

im just all about free mods, i may only be 17 but i am very mechanical smart. and i love hands on projects and trying things out. and im not out to market anything. i just think this is something i could do.

just remember to take your time and do it right. Remember what your teachers tell you pay attention to details. Double check before you make your next move you don't want to have to buy a new one.

Oh and look up reverse engineering. Just because we live in the computer age, doesn't mean that's all it applies too.
These are the issues when something isn't patentable. People are gonna do it themselves, and we just wanted to know if this is the same way they do it. If someone were to want to market their own kit, they would buy the arson kit, measure everything, then resell it in the classifieds! It's just an honor system, which isn't so successful these days. Now, I'm NOT a potential customer of a bag o parts or arson kit. Ever. I found the info so I'll do it myself. There are MANY people like me out there, obviously. This isn't monies lost for WD or II... It's just technical info for the community that built these companies. Like Neel says, When I need a good CP3 or duals, I'll be buying them. For now, I just wanted to see a few more examples before I dig in with the drill bit.

I was thinking about pulling the little gear pump off the back some time soon to try that out as well, the FCA was the worst restriction, so I did that first. The only thing keeping me from doing the pump housing is the fact that my CP3 has 120000 miles on it so i am unsure of the condition of the profile seals in it. They seal fine how they are, but there is no doubt in my mind they have taken a pretty bad compression set and I haven't been to cummins to see if they sell those seals separate.
I was referring to the part in the first post, the fuel inlet to the cp3 itself. Looks drilled and tapered. We are gonna lathe them.

Can I use this? "i may only be 17 but i am very mechanical smart" That is awesome and I respect the fact your willing to dig in, but I would listen to Shane; unless your made of $ and just like to tackle projects.

Oh so that is the little adapter that comes out to feed the rail? That makes sense, I haven't had that off, but if it is a simple turning or reaming operation I'll probably check that out too.
