Poll for Rokktech owners
Since installing your RokkTech sensor, have you: 1- Seen an improvement in mileage and power 2- Seen only a power gain 3- Seen only a mileage gain 4- Seen neither and it's a waste of money! Just curious whether they're worth my time and $? Thanks!

I did the tone ring mod to my 03 which essentially does the same as the Rokktech but for free. That truck saw a 1 mpg increase immediately and also got a bunch of extra "Off the Line" power. That mod was well worth the time Until I went to a fueling box with timing. Then I had to choose between the two and the top end power of the box won....

installed mine the other day and noticed a little increase in power on the low end...truck also idles smoother. Just took a trip from Tulsa ok, to Dallas tx. cruising with the cruise set @ 70 down and back, and a day of driving in dallas traffic, made it down and back without filling up. 581 miles it took 29.5 gallons for a total of 19.69 mpg. It never has gotten better than 18.5 so it helped my mpg.

I also did the Tone Ring mod (free) and that helped both fuel and power. I then later purchased the RokkTech sensor and changed the Tone Ring back to stock. I feel that the RokkTech helped also in both departments. I then advanced the Tone Ring again and noticed a little power but not much and no fuel difference. So done both, own 2 t-shirts.

Really hard to comment on the mileage. I also installed a van Aken C3.1 at the same time to increase the rail pressure. Do notice more snap in the low end. Might be that the van Aken is boost fooling in the low end also. Can't be sure but satisfied that the combination allows for better acceleration when pulling the camper from a dead stop.

I saw about 0.5 to 0.75 mpg gain...definately not the 1.5 mpg they claim... Got a lot of off idle grunt...the "govenor" seems to work better...you can dump the clutch at an idle and the truck will not stall... It also made the truck noisier. You can look at it this way too, you always have the other sensor as a backup...just in case. I will also add that it seems to help they 04.5+ 600CTD trucks more than the 03/04s...third injection event?? steved |

I decided to do the sensor because it was easier to install over the tone ring mod AND easier to remove and return to stock. Saw a little better bottom end and a little better fuel economy. Money well spent. CD

Thanks for all the replies! I think I'll get the Rokktech. It's a pretty safe gamble at $70 or so bucks. I'm a little wary of the tone ring mod, since once I grind on the hole on the TR, it's there forever. If I ever had to take the truck to the dealer, I could just pull the RokkTech out and put the original back in.

Well, just FYI, you can just loosen the dampner bolts and spin the tone ring back to it's stock position. Probably just as easy to do if not easier. The dealer would never even know you touched the tone ring....
