To muffler or not to muffler?

I have the R-700 Twins, no cat and a Aero 4040 muffler. Its quiet at idle and not too bad WOT. I used to have it straight piped with the TOW TWins but didn't like it. It was not loud. I am wondering if it will sound better now with the R-700 and no muffler. What do you guys think. I want it to sound like a 650hp truck. Will 5" make it louder than 4inch? If I stay with a muffler what muffler do I go with to get a meaner sound?

Oh no, no muffler. A five inch straigh WILL make you smile, and you will sound like a 651 hp truck! Go 5 and you'll never go back, I did and it is one of my most favorite mods to my truck! If I'd known what I do now, that would have been the first thing I did to mine. Mufflers are for crappy gas trucks that are trying to hide what the motor really sounds like. Don't deny your diesel it's right to breathe man!

Me, I wouldn't tease you.

I'm straight piped. The larger the pipe, atleast in my case, the deeper the tone. With your rig, go 5''. :thumbsup

I hear you guys, but remember my twin turbos will sound alot different from a single and even more different from a stock turbo. I may stay 4 inch straight with a 5 inch tip. Let you gius know tomorrow when I will let you guys know tomorrow wne i am at the shop is when I will decide. Either way it will be all good, 4 or 5 can't be that different.

i would personally run a 5" straight pipe with twins. i miss my old 5" and will at some point do a 5" on mine (or 5" to stacks). twins are quieter so the straight pipe isn't bad either. the center mount manifold really changes the sound and in your case the extra turbo.
