Aftermarket Fuel Pumps

I want to get rid of the Dodge retro-fit in-tank pump on my 04 Cummins. I ordered a ProComp (Holley Clone) fuel pump to install on my truck. It's rated at 130gpm and the pressure is set to 14#. Do I need a regulator? What should my maximum fuel pressure be for this truck?

I don't know the "max", but I've been running 20psi for a couple of years now with no CP3 problems.

130GPM???

I hope you meant GPH. ALthough 7800GPH would definitely supply plenty of fuel.

AND is that rated at 130GPH AT 14psi?

Max fuel pressure is not to big of an issue, the CP3 will return what it doesn't use. I see 50-60psi at WOT.

My fumble fingers! Maybe those are "Dog Minutes?"
That 130gph is free flow.

Thanks for the info.

In fact modded cp3s like to see higher fuel pressures. 14 is not high at all. What I have heard is the max fuel pressure will handle is about 100psi...not that I would recommend pressures that high.

Finished my install of fuel pump, draw straw II, tank vent mod, new larger filter and separate water separator, 1/2" lines all the way to the injector pump. I haven't driven it yet, but my truck starts even quicker and it also idles smoothly. (It used to take 10-15 seconds to smooth out) My fuel pressure gauge should get here today. I left the stock filter inline for now too.

i got a blue and at stand alone (without stocker) i would get about 13-15 psi consistenly without a reg. i removed the fuel plunger on the pump and stretched the spring and now seeing 20-22 psi. been running the blue for about a year now.

I installed a fuel pressure gauge at the stock filter canister and at idle, it's reading about 40 to 50#. Is this too high?

The CP3 should be fine but that does seem like a lot for a holley pump...are the lines between the canister and cp3 stock?

I changed all of the lines. Went from a 1/2" Draw Straw II in the tank to 1/2" lines to the CP3. They only reduce at the fuel pump and the stock filter canister.
I think maybe I'll disconnect the line at the CP3 and see just what kind of free flow I get into a bucket. Maybe I should add a regulator with a return?
