programmer questions

Hello everyone. I just bought my first deisel, an 05 dodge
2500, 4 door, auto trans. I'm new to all this deisel stuff &
have a few questions. I guess i need some advice on
what programmer to buy for my truck. I've installed a cold air intake so far. Future plans are possibly an exhaust, but
dont want it too loud, & 35" tires. Truck already has a leveling kit installed. Beyond that, i am going to keep the truck pretty much stock. Looking to get the best mileage i
can out of it. I like the features of the edge juice with
attitude or the bully dog, but will the truck hold up to that
much power. Thanks for any advice.

Both units mentioned will net you very close to the same mileage. Personally, I like the PMT better, but its all personal preference. As far as power goes, you will want to be careful in the upper settings as it is more than what your stock trans was meant to handle. The engine will have no problem with it though as long as you keep an eye on EGTs. Feel free to contact me with any questions you have.

Both are great products and the Edge has the ability to defuel if the transmission starts to slip to save you big$ on a rebuild. Both are also good choices because they have all of the gauges built in for a simple install.

both are extremely good, i have the juice attitude on mine, bullydog tends to run a little hotter egt's. remember the more added timing, the cooler your egt's will be, but you can overtime it, as far as safety features, the edge wins hands down, you can set it to defuel, for slipping clutch, overboost, and high egt's. i have ran mine on 5 with my foot to the floor, and never got it over 1250* on the exhaust, and for mileage, i run mine on level three, set the low boost fueling on 3, i averaged 24 mpg, plus a little stop and going (hurt me a little) when i went to michigan in august, and only burnt 1 1/2 tanks of fuel in 890 miles...

I would look into a Smarty JR, great programmer. I have tried them all( Quadzilla,Bully Dog,Edge,Diablo) and not one of them gave my truck better fuel econemy than the original stock factory setting.

Thanks for the reply. On another note, my truck has a fuel leak. It appears to be leaking
from around the ring on top of the fuel tank. Do you know if there is a gasket under the
lock ring on the cover of the tank or have you heard of the fuel line clips leaking where they attach to the tank. It only seems to leak when the tank is full. Thanks again for your help & advice

yea thats what im saying also, but my tank is only 26 gallons, so tank and a half was 39 for me, i hand calculated 24 when i drove insterstate and filled back up, just about all was interstate, but when i got off we hand calculated about 20 so it was roughly 22 give or take a few, the overhead was reading 28 on the interstate,
890/39 gallons = 22.82 mpg, i mean i really have no reason to complain... best fuel mileage i have got out of a truck, lot more than that powerjoke i used to have ever got... but its all in personal preference on ehat you want to buy...
