Cold Air intake issues...

I decided after 25,000 miles yesterday to remove my air filter and give it a wash.

Ermm... should have happened long ago, but I'm busy, blah, kids... football... blah, life... blah...

ANYWAY... I could have made the job of removing the filter a little easier if I had used an angle grinder. It was a b1t@h to get out of there. I mean after removing the top plate, I would imagine simply unscrew the clamp... slip it off, clean and replace? right? Nope. There isn't enough space to get it in and out.

So I am thinking maybe the shop who installed it installed the wrong model. Maybe for a Toyota or Mercedes, but definitely not a Dodge.

Is there a way I can tell? Its an AFE, and is pictured below, but Should I get a different one? I don't see myself being very diligent now in cleaning the air filter with it taking over an hour to remove and install.

So, which model is it supposed to be?

Thanks in advance.

Is there a model number or something on the CAI?

Thats the right intake but it seems pretty close to the core support up fron, try loosening the mounting hardware and see if you can move it back a little to gain some clearance. AFE makes great intakes, i would reccomend changing it out.

looks like the right one...but your filter itself looks like it is much further forward into the front of the truck than mine does. Maybe it is just angle of the picture.

I figured it out. There are two screw holes on the engine side of the air cleaner box, and the feed pipe from the filter to the turbo screws into the rear one, and the shop who had installed it had screwed it into the front one. So the filter was kinda jammed up against the front of the engine bay.

All good now.
