help with cam purchase

Looking at a cam upgrade 188 220 from Hamilton or a colt stage 3 181 210 big stick. Looking for any input from people that have ran both. My main concern is more low end power and quicker spool up for towing.

Give Zach a call (Hamilton ) He is a good guy and knows his stuff... There are quite a few good threads on cams, just take time to research ... I chose Hamilton after all the reading and speaking with Zach...One main thing is Hamilton's are NOT regrinds ...I refuse to put a regrind in my personal truck or anyone elses... many posts and many opinions out there ... good luck

The colt stage 3 is not a regrind. I dont want to put a regrind in my truck either. I like Hamilton stuff but I am not shure if i want the 188 cam seen how he doesent offer a 181 any more. Like i said i am looking for more lowend pulling power with quicker spool for towing i pull my one ton jeep crawler a lot. So that's why i was hooping for some chime ins from people that run both. I figure its time for a cam job to finish off my mods.

yes im pretty sure there is the 188-208 and the more performance 188-220

but to be honest- i tow with 800hp @ wheel with a 25' gooseneck and drag truck on it with my 188 220 without an issue

Straight from Zach on his comp D sponsor section.

We have had a lot of requests for fuel economy/towing specific cams and this move reflects us trying to give you what you want. The 181-210 was trying to do both and giving up a little bit of economy and power. For towing, economy and smaller builds, the 188-208 is the cam. For bigger builds, the fastest spool, and maximum power up to approximately 4200 rpm, the 188-220 is the cam for you.

Buddy of mines dad put one of zach's tow specific cams in his 92 1st gen, he was looking for more power/torque for the reason of towing, that's it. The truck hauls 5-6 cords (20-24k lbs in wood) of firewood on a 24ft pintle pull tandem dual flatbed or a 14k lb camper. That's all the truck was build for and for mileage while doing it since its his second job and he delivers wood 300 miles away. He didn't wast to add fuel(fuel pin, crank the pump, etc) because of egts. Yes the truck isn't a 3rd gen but the cam completely exceeded his expectations. Enough that his brother with an 01 6speed 4wd with only clutch and comp box ordered one also. Both trucks are completely tow/work rigs and if that's what your looking for then I would call Zach about a tow/mileage cam.
