Ok posted in another thread no replies so thought I would post here..
Is it the preferred thing to do during a 48re build that has clutches etc and a VB increasing pressures... to reduce the band lever from the stock 5.0 to say a 4.X ?
It seems on the srt10 side of things they think the 5.0 lever gets galled up on the bottom side of the pivot and has release issues. Is this the case?
I also seems the older 47's like to upgrade to the 5.0 lever.
So if your looking at your transmission in parts spread across the room...what would you put back in it?

4.2 is the norm. 5.0 lever is too slow to release and can cause to much shift overlap on 2-3 shift. That causes heat and wear. 5.0 is old school thinking. The 5.0 lever idea came from when they were putting them in the hemi's in the late 60s. Yes this is pretty much the same trans.
My Garmon has a 3.2 I believe. With increased VB pressure, I think you need to back off on the ratio.
I would be surprised if it were a 3.2 as the stock ratio is 3.8...
Why the different ratio on the lever... It is just that leverage a 4.2 has more leverage on the band to apply more pressure in second gear that is all. different adjustment for the 4.2 lever as it is a different ratio. I just adjust the piston to lever clearance to 1/4". You will be good of you do that and no worrys about how many turns or what torque for the adjuster bolt.

Maybe its year specific? Goerend said mine (2006) is a 4.2 and when I had a pile of parts shipped they recommended I stay with 4.2:1 and thats what they use in all of their billet built trannys.

My stock one has 5.0 on it. It's an 05 48re that is/was bone stock until I opened it.
Used Oil- did they rebuild yours or was yours an exchange?
I ordered all the parts and paid my uncle to rebuild it. He owns a hot rod/speed shop so hes the only I let work on my truck. All the other work is done by me. Transmissions are a puzzle to me so I dont touch it
