Hey guys, I just bought a Bully Dog power pup online to try a programmer on my 2006 5.9L 2500 diesle, trying to get better MPG...i think the programmer is locked, can't get past the Download screen to program a mode. Is there anyway to reset or clear it?
Also, it's an older model power pup...for 03 and newer...called BD and they said it would work on my 06 but i can't get updates on it.

they're very limited, Bully Dog doesn't support them anymore. If it VIN locks, it's a brick. for a little bit more money, you can buy a used triple dog

I have a Power Pup in My 05. Ive had it for about 2 years. It is the only programmer I've ever had so I have nothing to compare to but It made a world of difference in power. On performance or extreme settings the truck will smoke if you lay on it but not too too bad. I didnt see any mileage gains when I put it on. The biggest thing that i dont like about the chip is that it has NO tranny protection programmed into it. I ran it for about 25000KMS and toasted my stock tranny because I didnt know any better at the time.

So if you were going to buy one and you dont want to spend a fortune and all you need is a little more power then its not a bad chip. I would not recommend it to anyone tho. There are MANY better programmers out there for not a lot more money.

Not really sure other than if its used he may noth have put his truck back to stock setting which would likely VIN lock it so that the programmer wouldnt beable to be used for multiple trucks.

Dont quote me that was a guess at best.

"is it a good programmer"
My opinion is that its is better than nothing, its adequate, But not good if you compare to whats else is out there.

I had the standard power pup 03-04. It was a decent little programer. Wont make big power, even on extreme it seemed pretty mild. But if youve never had a programer before you will like it. Seemed smooth and safe. On MY TRUCK you could drive it like you stole it and egts stayed down.
