Upgrade cast turbo elbow 03 to 04.5

Swapped this elbow today, new downpipe also, due to spooling problems, or lack there of.(per Brady@ II)

The bottom V-Band clamp from the 03, will not fit the 04.5, Duh?

Went to the Donaldson supplier, he had 4", too small (it is what I had), 5" too big. Cummins Northwest, same story, House of Hose, no V-Band clamps, Kenworth, 4'' 5''.

Dishman Dodge, had to order, Special size, this is a Holset elbow. What gives? Dishman wants $40.00 bucks for a $16.00 V-Band clamp!

How many other people have done this same proceedure?

No mention of the elbow to downpipe V-Band clamp, in all my searches.(even issue 48 TDR, where they did this swap) Of course this is Friday, cannot get the clamp until Monday, at the soonest.

Just want to make everyone else aware, before doing this, purchase this clamp first, it is the only thing keeping my truck down.

Jess

Thought that was standard knowledge due to the size difference. 40 smackers is way too much. When I used to buy them they were only 18 bucks each and I have probably bought at least 6 of them.

hehe

I remember back when I did this install in 2004, I did the same thing... I used the clamp I had and held it on with a coat hanger. Update: 4 inch cast elbow - 4 inch downpipe - TDR Roundtable

BTW the part# you need is "clamp - 52121285aa" - last I checked and same as jesse mentioned, shouldnt be more than $20
