Exclamation TST warning for June 2006 or later trucks

This is from TST website...

Important note on the PowerMaxCR for a 2006 or 2007 Dodge Ram:

- The rail pressure part of the PowerMaxCR does not currently work on Dodge trucks with a build date of June 2006 or later. TST is working on this problem and will update the program and/or harnesses at no additional cost when we get a fix. In the mean time, do not connect the TST rail pressure harness to the rail pressure sensor, leave the stock harness connected to the rail pressure sensor. - Also, the PowerMaxCR does not currently work on some Dodge trucks with a build date of June 2006 or later even with the TST rail pressure harness not hooked up. Some trucks run rough and some set a P0148 code. TST has stopped shipping PowerMaxCR units for Dodge trucks with a build date of June 2006 or later until the problems have been resolved.

From what I heard from others who have communicated with TST directly is that using this on the newer trucks can and will cause UNCONTROLLABLE egt's no matter WHAT SETTING. Even the lowest settings will destroy your engine. Crazy sky high temps that WILL MELT YOUR PISTONS QUICKLY.
I am getting this info from those who have had carnage. I DON'T have first hand info, but thought those of you who are potential users should know.

Good luck.

I think we'll make this a sticky
Do our part to make sure as many people are educated about the issue till they get it resolved.

a little more first hand info. I talked in length to Mark at TST about this since I was sold one before they stopped selling them to people that wanted to put them on the after 6/06 build engines. Edge is also having the same problem where they don't work on the late model 07's.

The fact is, the TST does work on some trucks. It worked on mine as long as I didn't have the RP connected. I did end up frying a pistons but, that was after having the TST installed for 6 months. I am not saying the TST had anything to do with my problem as I was playing hard at the track.

Some trucks it won't work at all on, others have intermittent problems... etc. The problem is in the pressure to the injectors. When the box is turned on, it spikes along with what the ECM is already doing instead of replacing the ECM signal. Both together can cause injectors to stick open which is where the fried pistons happen.

They've really worked on trying to figure out what's happening but, without D/C's secret code to the ECM, it's been a dead end. They've also been working with Marco to figure it out since the Smarty seems to work.

People do need to STOP using them on the 6/06 and later if there are. He said, people will call there and lie saying they have a 06 model but, really have 07's just to get the box sold to them. He also says they can't control who their dealers sell to and can only hope they aren't being sold to those with the late model 07 5.9.

They have covered themselves legally and are only responsible for any damage to their box. This is understandable because they are not putting a gun to anyones head to use their product. This sentiment is heard throughout the performance world so, if you play.... YOU pay

This is not to discredit TST or say they have a bad product, on the contrary. The box is a great product and works great on everything but, the newer Can-Bus ECM. This was only to point out the issues on the after 6/06 model 5.9L. They're in the works on something for the 6.7L

Thank you sir but... it's really ok. I'm well aware that mods and playing will cost money. I planned to build the engine but, not so soon. I figured I woould have problems going to the track but, not a toasted piston. It should be done in a few weeks. It's at Scheids being built from the ground up

sorry, didn't mean for a sticky post to be about my truck :fist:

I ran my old TST from my 03 on my 07 truck for a while and other than throwing that P0148 code on occasion I had no other issues with it other than it was slipping my clutch something terrible. So, I think you may be safe with an older unit, just not the newer ones....

So if they have a call that someone wants to buy something then it works fine but if they someone calling in with a concern then click

Just joking love TST stuff and ran it myself on my old motor and still would If I had a 24 valve motor

I went to seen Mark about a few things and we talked for a while. He took me around the shop to show me what they were working on. Mark is a OK guy in my book!!

For you guys that are running the TST in the affected trucks do you notice your EGT's going out of control? It kind of makes me worry a little even though I have a 12/05 build motor. But on the other hand I havent seen my EGT's go above 1350 for more than a few seconds. I hope they can figure out what the issue is.
