Lightbulb dumb truck - life w/o smarty

kinda a strange way to do a review....

so ive been reunning the smarty since dec, recently i was alowed to bera version 4.3. ive been thrilled with the power, the economy etc. the last tank on the beta was over 26mpg hand calc!
now heres where the wierd part of the review comes in.
i went on vacation for a week, i decided to let a local guy test the smarty while i was gone. so we returned my truck to stock, loaded it up on his and away i went.
wow, i realy have become acustomed to the power. i dont know how i ever thought the truck was ever fun to drive stock. the change was huge, almost indescribable! my truck feels like a slug, iv found that stuff like merging i used to take for granted, now requires some fore thought and full throttle. ive had a few days to drive in stock form untill he gets it back to me.
for comparison stock the egt's crusing @70 on level ground empty are 50-100deg hotter, on even verry mild hils there 200-250 hotter. i only drove about a half tanks worth, but based on distance to half normaly im getting about 4-5 mpg worse in stock form.
i cant wait for him to show back up with my smarty so i can get my life back to normal!
on the bright side it has made me apreciate the improvments even more than when i first loaded it. i highly recomend every one that has a bombed truck to revert to stock (or as close as you can get) every once in a while to remind your self how lucky we are.

Marco & Bob - thank you
the two of you have realy made a diferance in the way my truck drives. this has been a learnig experiance in so many diferent ways. not just on my truck but with how it works on others that have a totaly diferent usage. please concider me for any future beta testing.

now i guess its time to give rip a call and spend some more money so i can fully apreciate the smarty with out slipping the clutch!

26 mpg with 35's and 4.10's??? sounds almost impossible.

With 4.10's and 35's you are right about the sweet spot. I think its doable with the right driving conditions. And obviously the speedo is corrected with the smarty on there. Glad to see you appreciate the difference. I know I do. My Smarty is currrently on loan to a customer and I am just running on the TST. Never thought the words "feels slow" and "TST" would be in the same sentence, but without the smarty its just not the same.

also keep in mind... its an 03.. .no 3rd event waisting fuel ......
6sp so no pump/converter losses....
all fluids are syntetic...
and i think i found the sweet spot with my aditives.. least for my truck.

and yes speedo corected / confirmed via gps

I'm with you, I won't trade my 03 5 speed at all. It runs great, and the mileage is always 21-24+ mpg
