cheap mods

hey just bought a 2003 diesel (250 hp)about a month ago i put a 4 inch stright pipe on it love the sound just wondering what else is a cheap mod for these trucks for the better.
im going to make a home made air intake is there anyother cheap mods for these things i dont really wana buy a chip yet untill i buy a shift kit so let me know what you think.

Remove the scliencer ring on your turbo and it will sound mean, especially with the homemade airfilter and pipes, and its free, no hp gain though

K&N drop in filter, you can also remove the baffeling the plastic tube that runs from the airbox to the turbo(it can be a pain though)

so for removeing the baffleing i just add a peace of pipe in there where the big baffle is whats the point of the baffle just to cut down on the whistle?

NO K&N Filter!!!!!!

just break the bafflers out with a pair of pliers/(i found an adjustable wrench works best)-- once you have it off it is easy to do/understand- 5-mins max to do

a tuner will be the biggest bang for your $$$$

your going to have people that are for and against the K&N. i have been running those filters on my trucks for years and have never had any problems. however there are some people that have not had that great of luck from them. guess i've just been lucky. breaking the baffles out is a pain but will make the air flow a little better into the turbo. good luck and have fun with it

Before I had my S&B intake i removed the baffes and it sounded good then l took that section out completly and replaced it with a section of 5"exhaust it looked good and the turbo whistled like crazy and my egt's dropped about 75degrees I also took the silencer ring out of my turbo it sounded great good luck man have fun

well i took out the intake baffle today just replaced it with a peace of 5 inch pipe i had left in my shop from my dads buddies logging truck

it seams to whistle abit more only took my 10 mins to do infront of my full shop hahaha in a snowstorm im going to take the silence ring out oneday soon here too when i find time
