Figured I'd start a thread to keep track. Just ordered a set of Johnys 5 blade compounds 63-74-.91 480-96-1.32. Should be about a 2-3 week lead time. I'll get an email tune from Gordon to get me going then take it to Gordon's shop for a dyno session to dial it in. I'll post up pics as parts start to show up
Stop it you're the one that got me into this mess hahaha. Seriously though possibly next year I'd like to swap my bottom stock pump for a stroker and have S&S punch my 100%s to 200% but you know how that goes took me long enough to put the order through for the compounds
I'll be interested to see how these drive with your current injectors. I've trying to make my mind up about a compound setup for a while. Currently have a fleece HE351. I have been thinking either a 5 blade 475 or your setup.
a cheetah/475 and this set up is apples and oranges. Without knowing what you have for fuel mods or a hp goal I'm not sure what to say other than I wouldn't run the set up I'm using without at least 100%ers and dual pumps. future plans for my truck will be punching the 100%ers to 200% and swapping my bottom stock pump for a stroaker. Rough numbers would be with current fuel I'm guessing 900-950hp ish when/if I throw the 200%ers and more pump at it I figure ballpark 1200hp. If you go with the cheetah/475 I'd throw 100hp/50% injectors and a 10mm stroaker at it should put you around 750hp ish.
Wouldn't that 475 be super laggy? I'm looking for about 750 -800 ish and trying to find a good direction. Just deleted and efi tuned. Maybe tow 6 times a year.
Man this thing is a heavy sob I must be getting weaker in my old age I'm definitely not hanging this in one shot gonna have to split the turbine housing off
Yeah a 475 by itself would be without a whole bunch of motor and head work I think he was talkin about using his cheetah and a 475 as compounds a cheetah is just a modified he351
For that truck I'd go with a 468/87/.91 with a set of 75%-100% injectors and dual pumps and of course studs, springs, and pushrods that should put you right about where you want to be. Keep in mind those 6.7's like to bend connecting rods not sure the hp # but 800 or so is ringing a bell so I'd keep it at 800 or a little less unless you plan on building your bottom end
Lol, thought was in 4th Gen. Cool, yeah that's what I was looking at turbo wise. That or a 475 compound my stock vgt. Didn't really plan on another cp3 though. Is 100%injectors the same as 100hp nozzles?
Was looking to keep my exhaust break if I could.so figured I could compound my stock vgt into a 475 or something of that variation. Would have different manifolds to help with drive pressure from the vgt. Even though5 of sending the stick vgt off to turbo lab for upgrades. Just a while lot of options and I don't know much of turbos and such.
No 100% = 200hp 50% = 100hp
If your planning on doing a stocker 475 compound then 100hp would be plenty enough fuel and still would be beneficial to go with a stroaker pump you can get away with a stock pump and 100hp but it won't be 100% efficient still going to need studs and I'd do at least springs
Yeah that's what I was thinking. Was talking to a guy on here who use to run stock over compounds with great sucess. Thanks for the info buddy.
