DPF and EGR delete

I have a 2004 Ram 3500 and I went to go see a guy who customizes trucks. I wanted a 5-inch turbo back straight pipe. But I was told by his mechanic that I needed a DPF and EGR delete with a tuner (I live in Canada where its legal). Now my problem here is that I have never nor will I ever chip my truck. I would never do anything that would hurt the motor. So I have a few questions. Is it true that I need to delete the EGR and DPF and install a tuner? And if so will it cause harm to the motor? Iv also heard that some presets on the tuner can do harm but some presents won't, or even increase fuel economy. But with different people saying different tings I figured I ask you guys who probably know best.

04.5 has cat. 04 doesn't Engine doesn't care if it is there or not. You need a better mechanic since he obviously doesn't know that DPF wasn't used until the 6.7 came out in 07.5. Also same story with external EGR didn't appear until 07.5.

Where in Canada do you live that it is legal to modify a vehicle by removing emissions control equipment?

I'm in BC but I'm pretty sure there's no law in Canada that prohibits EGR and DPF removal.

The federal government only mandates that vehicles manufactured for sale in Canada have emissions control equipment that meets with current federal standards. They then expect the provinces to enforce laws against removing or tampering with them.

BC expressly forbids you from removing emissions control gear from vehicles, just like every other province. The degree of enforcement is a debatable topic, but the legality is not. It is not legal to remove your DPF and catalytic converters in any province.

Welcome to the forum. Where have you been pouring the DEF? If you thought you had a DPF, surely you have been adding it somewhere.

2007 Dodge Laramie 3500 4x4 QCLB 5.9L auto, Dodge one-piece driveshaft (52123161AC), purely stock, right down to the catalytic converter.

DPF has nothing to do with DEF. 6.7 didn't get DEF until 2012 but it had a DPF starting with the introduction in 2007.5.
