you will be able to tow with it on the lower settings. it would be a good choice. i think one of the smartys is adjustable on the fly but im not sure. if you run it on the higher settings you will need a fuel pump and TRANNY upgrades.

i would say get a 8ft box if your gonna be towing a goose neck, that way your can ge the truck 90deg. when backing up, i hear the 6ft boxes will hit the cab with a goose neck. if your gonna put a chip/programmer in it, eventualy you will need a trany, mine doesnt like the power when i put her on level 5 but when i hit the skinny she gets up and goes, and if you hot rod a bit maybe a water/meth kit, my egt's like to go up when i get on it thats one of the things on my to do list for my rig.

I have an 05 and my dad has an 06. Both are great truck. Personally I prefer the interior of the 05, the OD ratio of the G56, and the shifting of the NV5600.. lol... but sounds like you are getting an auto, so that wont matter. Neither of us has any issues, we both run Smarty Jr's, probably a better tuner for you than the Sr, if you tow that much. It also won't require any fuel system upgrades, but tranny upgrades would be a good idea (especially if you plan to plow, I would add a HUGE cooler with an elec fan for plowing). Upgrading the fuel filtration on both is easy as there is no enigne mounted APPS, so adding more filters isn't hard, and with the Smarty Jr you won't need more fuel than a stock LP can push thru 3 filters (see fuel filter setup in my sig). For power under 450hp full intakes are overrated, based on what I have personally witnessed on a dyno... The most effective thing is a good OE style filter, an Airaid Torque tube, and a GDP intake horn (costs the same, or less, than a CAI and puts more than enough cold air into the engine for sub 350 hp, and you get the intake horn which CAI's don't include) CAI's also remove the directional vanes in the bottom intake elbow, which I have read make the turbo up to 30% more efficient at low boost levels. For the exhaust both 05 and 06 will already have full 4" exhausts. I recommend getting a cat delete pipe for starters. If you're not after the sound the OE muffler flows just fine, but is easily replaced with something like a Donaldson 40". An exhaust brake is a great idea for towing, but is only OE compatible with auto trannies on the 06+. For gauges I would run EGT, Boost, Trans Temp (if auto), and Fuel Pressure. Both 05 and 06 (actually all 03+) trucks will automatically up the rpms to 1000 after two minutes when the coolant temp is less than 160* and the ambient temp is ~15-32*F. Below 15* F it goes to 1000 rpms as soon as you start the truck. With the Smarty or Smarty Jr you will be able to use the cruise control to adjust the rpms from 1100-1500 when stopped. Hope that wasn't too much info.
