Question Performance parts suggestions?

I use my truck everyday, and would like to improve the mileage, if possible, while making more power. I have seen on the show, Trucks, where they install a Banks Big Hoss Bundle, and gain alot of extra power, and they claim better mpg's. I am not familiar with the aftermarket support of these 5.9 Cummins HO engines.

I would like to hear what you guys are using as far as bolt-on parts, with the stock turbo to make power. I would like an CAI, TBE, MBC, IC at the minimun. Would I need to tune for those mods?

Whats everyones opinion of the Banks BHB? It looks pretty good to me, except for the fact that got a CBE, I would much rather prefer a TBE.

I would love to know as well. I have a pusher intake, Amsoil 4510 air cleaner with homemade tubing, straight pipe, and smarty. Power is great but mileage is less than 2 mpg better than stock. 14 mpg stock, the way I drive, and 15-16 best after the mods.

what gear ratio are you guys running 4.10 or 3.73?

That makes quite a difference.

I'm not so sure you need bolt-on parts to be honest with you.

You could get a programmer and run on low settings and do better but honestly 50 horsepower injector nozzles would be the best thing you could do for mpg.

50 hp nozzles won't cause a huge demand on your fuel system and the truck won't have to work as hard. Plus you're not talking about drastic rise in exhaust temps either.

Also a lift pump Airdog or FASS pump.

Frankly a lift pump and nozzles would be perfect.

Approx Big hoss cost $3160. Approx mpg gain 2. Constants=$2.89/gal fuel and 33 gals used. Variables=miles per 33 gals, comparing 525 and 595. Price per mile at 525=18.2 cents. Price per mile at 595=16 cents. Savings of 2 cents per mile. Cost/Savings=
3160/.02=158,000 miles to break even. At 17500 miles per year, approx 9 years.

Thanks for the replies! My truck has 3.73 rear end. With a lift pump, 50 hp nozzles, and a smarty, approx. how much power will I make to the wheels using the aggresive map?

Who makes a quality stainless 5", catless, turbo-back exhaust?

I'd say in the 530-550 ballpark.
