First mod I did was take off the stock muffler.Sounded OK. Then I removed the kitty , and like you said , it was way to loud with a load on . I ended up with a magnaflow 4"in to 4" out. I like the sound . I had about 129.00 installed in it

yes the flex tubing is pretty much available everywhere. You can buy different grades of flex. I personally baught the cheapest stuff we had but for only about another $10.00 I could have had stainless. But I didn't think it was worth it. If I would have ended up keeping the straight pipe I would have upgraded to the stainless stuff but I'm glad I didn't It would have been a waste of money.

I looked for the flex pipe last night, went to every parts store in the area. No one had it, the closet I found was a 3 foot section of 2-1/2" OD at Advanced Auto. Oh well, maybe i'll just wait and get that pipe from Geno's.

Try a truck shop. They have it. Pretty common on big rigs for various joints in the exhaust system.

I use a 4 foot piece of 4" flex to go from the outlet of my Donaldson to the side downturn in front of the rear tire. It is a bugger getting the flex to bend tightly.

I've been running mine for about 50,000 miles. It is now rusty on the bottom, but still very serviceable. It is fairly easy to replace and inexpensive, so I'll just replace it when I need to.

At one point I had it wrapped in an industrial heat wrap to keep the water off it and make it quieter. I wrecked the wrap when I installed the Cummins.

I've been running a Walbro 392 since 2000. How long did your fuel pump last ?

do you have any o'reilly parts stores arround you. I work there and found it in the back of the walker exhaust book. I do think other parts stores carry walker too. Maybe they didn't want to look hard enough for you. I had to order mine in but I had it the next day. I could understand if they didn't have it in stock but anybody should be able to get it. The napa up-town had 5" and 6" flex in stock but not 4" but they were able to order it in.

I just ordered my flex from o'reillys this morning, it will be here tomorrow. I'm just going to do this because it is so cheap and if I like the sound I'll invest in the kit from Geno's. My neighbor has a dinky ferd ranger that is loud as hell when he lets it warm up in the a.m., it's that annoying rice burner sound too!! I'm kind of hoping mine will over power his after this.

I am planning on ordering a cold air kit soon, should I wait till I get this before I do the muffler thing or can I go ahead with the muffler with the stock air filter still in? What's a good kit around $200? I haven't heard too much of a BAHF on the 3rd gens, does anyone know the part # that will work for these, are they the same as what fits the 2nd gens? Do I still need to fabricate a heat sheild since the filter sits up front on the 3rd gens?

Thanks!

I would have no worries about installing a pipe on a stock filtered engine. I still run the mopar air filter and I have had no problems. I just switched to a walker muffler instead of the flex pipe. It was too loud with the trailer behind. The muff I got is 9" round and 21" long. It's not too bad about the same outside as the flex but alot quieter inside with the muff. It still rumbles but it isn't annoying.
