Workhorse pics and test results

Well this past week I installed an AEM Workhorse and removed the Brute Force that I was currently running for the past 6 months or so. The truck has been through a couple changes since the the Brute Force was installed but luckily it was on the dyno about three days prior to the Workhorse install, and once again this weekend. So, I posted some initial thoughts of the unit which were all on the positive side. So now here are the numbers and pictures of the installed product (several of course).

Prior to Workhorse Best: 534.6rwhp and 1016 tq.
Temps in the high 20's with Humidity around 54%
(Mods in Signature)

Workhorse Best: 541.2rwhp and 1027 tq.
Temps in in the low 30's with Humidity around 49%
(Mods in Signature)

Same dyno, same driver, same mods...but different results. Now, the numbers aren't a huge gain but I do have a suprising twist to the results. Peak power with the Workhorse came in nearly 70rpms earlier than the Brute force with a 85 degree lower EGT. Turbo spools nearly the same, the in cab whistle is down just a bit due to the relocation of the filter and the fitment was an A++. The AEM Brute force is an awesome system, but the Workhorse is truely the next level of performance intakes.

Jesse

Jesse,
Good to see the results of your test especially the lower rpm and egt. I like mine. The ol' dynobutt sure felt a difference.

you say the workharse performs better than the brute force?? I noticed your filterminder had been pulled down.....shouldnt happen with a new filter!! My bruteforce pulls down the filterminder anytime i do a WOT run, and I am extremely dissapointed with the products!!

It does look good and prefer the dry filter, my oil analysis came back great!! silica/silicates was basically 0.

if only they would flow more air!!

Ram, I would like to point out a couple things.

- The filter minder in these shots was pulled down, but that is because when I took the photos, the truck had not even been started yet and the filter minder was pulled down from my Brute Force intake.

- AEM did a running change of the Brute Force kit because of the filter minder location and the correllation they saw between it's location and it's movement.

- The later design is on serveral higher HP trucks than my little 550hp rig and doesn't budge the filter minder with WOT runs on the rollers or on the street.

You might give AEM a call, verify what I am telling you is true and they may even be able to get you fixed up with the later version of the intake tube and you'll be able to verify my findings yourself. They are great people and believe in the products they produce, if it doesn't make power...they won't produce the parts.

Jesse
