Sorry to ask a 1st gen question on the 3rd gen forum, but I was just wondering if my truck has a speed limiter? I dont think it does, then again, I do not have the means of getting it over 100 at the moment. I have heard that the 3200GSK will help my top end, and my gear vendors I have makes a huge difference too.
Basically I am just asking, is once I get to a certain speed, is it my top speed, or do I have a limiter on my truck as well?
Then tell that to EVERY diesel drag racer. Its impossable to get a decent ET when your truck defuels at 3/4 track at 108mph.
Why exactly are these trucks not designed to go over 108mph????
DC decided it was safe to operate Ram quad cab at 155mph in there srt-10 which has a weaker frame, weaker brakes, and less torque then our trucks. You dont need to have a sports cars to drive above 108mph. Our trucks are more then adaquete to operate at 120mph given your tires are up to it.
As for his age he's probably in his late 40's and spends all of his time thinking of creative way to put down the entire diesel performance community.
Maybe you need to go hang out on another Forum that discusses waxes and polishes, and way to get max mpg and leave you comments that offend a larger percentage of this high performance diesel forum :thumbsup
bye bye
If anyone needs more of overiding the factory speed limiter PM me

A b2000 weighs what, a little more than a cummins engine with the transmission attached? And one of these trucks will get floaty? No, I don't think so. My '98 dually handles just fine at 120 mph, which is all it'll do with the 3k gsk in it. If anyone knows the speed at which a 7000 lb truck starts to get floaty, please tell me what it is. I certainly haven't found it, and I doubt many of you guys have either.
That said, use common sense about where you do these things-an interstate with other traffic around probably isn't the place.

Ditto…going that fast on the street is just bad common sense (or lack of it). On the strip though, in a controlled environment, you can kill no one butt yourself. Install Z-rated tires and GAME ON!!!!

I top out at 120 but I don't have any sort of "speed-limiter-eliminator"... damn that was confusing... haha anyways I thought that our engines were just goverened at 3200 RPM wherever that speed might be depeding on axles and tires...

The only product I know of that gets rid of it is the Top Speed Eliminator by BD Power: BD Engine Brake - Ram Diesel Ram Speed Eliminator The speedo on some year trucks will stop at 90mph when it is hooked up (its fooling), but the truck will continue to accelerate until you reach lift-off speeds. :thumbsup
