Smarty problems.

I hate to bring up a sore subject, but what ever came of all the problems people were having with the new Smarty? Those threads just kind of died off so I never heard if the problems were addressed or resolved. I held off ordering one due to all the horror stories but now Im ready to buy some type performance electronics and Im wondering if the Smarty is a good buy or not. I wasnt planning to stack it with anything (which seems to be where most people ran into problems) so any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!

I am running a SMARTY by itself with no stack and i love it.....Tons of smoke(on demand of course) ....Excellent throttle response IMO....I havn't had any problems......

From the sounds of some people's experience with the SMARTY it like hit and miss....Some people have had good luck and some bad.....I haven't heard of anyone having problems with just running a SMARTY just those that are stacking with it.....

I tried edge juice, bully dog and was leary about buying the SMARTY cause its so new i'm not one to be a guinie pig, but i am sure glad i got it...no regrets here.....Thats my .02

Most if not all the problems got fixed by Marco. If there's a problem you can count on Marco to make it right. There was a poll on that other strict CTD site asking the same thing. The results were 95% happy and no problems

If your truck is virgin, I dont think you'll have any issues. Its the trucks with past downloaders that seem to have more frequency of errors.

Mine has been working perfect and I had the SC Flashpaq on it before. No complaints here.

From what I've seen around here... The smarty is GREAT on a *almost stock truck*. On a highly modded truck the Smarty is hit and miss... Just like any downloader.

On my truck the Bully Dog FAR out performed the Smarty.

But on my buddies truck the Smarty out performed the Bully Dog.

If you've had other downloaders on your truck, my advice is to stay away from the Smarty. Or you'll have a truck like mine

Luke, I thought you were headed to the dealer? The big problem is no big problem any longer?

Why are you not still trying to fix your problem?

Bob,

Yes, my truck still has a problem.

My own problem is I can't get off work to take it. And I want to be there when I take it. It's the busiest time of year where I work. UPS is picking up 150+ packages a day and there are 2 of us who run the business. I'm at work from 7am-10pm, 7 days a week. I have ZERO time and not a life right now..LOL

The truck is still screwed. I can't run my tst at all. I am getting by with just the crazy larry... My truck ran in the 12's all summer with just the Bully Dog so I can live with that for now. I changed the date with the dealer 3 times and never made it so I gave up for now.

Everyday I just think how nice it would be if I never loaded the Smarty in the first place

Marco believes that bullydogg screwed your stock programming.

I asked you to check your software code with the smarty aND YOU would never provide the software code for us to verify the correct string of numbers

THat made me go hmmmm. simple and easy to do but you refuse to provide the numbers

Of course you would make it sound like it was bully dog's fault...

I honestly didn't expect you to come out and say it was the Smartys fault... Especially after it was hyped up to the point it once was....

I'll give you the string of numbers or whatever... I haven't been dealing with you since I've been talking to Marco. He says the bully dog put American Numbers back in so it couldn't be that.

It's not that big of deal anymore I guess... It's just a 50+ thousand dollar investment.

For some trucks the Smarty is great. For some it sucks... Thats what I tell people now. Even various diesel shops that sell the Smarty agreed with me on that issue. The only problem is, when you find out the Smarty isn't right for your truck it's too late. (Like mine and others experiences). Marco never did come out and tell me that he had a fix for my truck. Whether he doesn't know what's wrong or doesn't want to help me is unknown.

AKRam was very helpful and gave me a contact at Bully Dog to help get my truck up and running if the dealer can't. They fixed his truck after he loaded the Smarty on his....
