Gauge Install Tips - Dimmer Wire

I received a fuel pressure gauge for Xmas and I am installing it soon. After some searching on the internet I stumbled across some good tips from Geno's Garage.

http://www.genosgarage.com/installat...lTips03-09.pdf

Basically at the back of the dimmer switch use the following wires to dim your gauges:

Orange wire with the white stripe for 2003 models only (pin #3 on the headlamp switch).
Orange wire with brown stripe for 2004 and 2005 models (pin #2).
Orange wire with brown stripe for 2006 and 2009 models (pin #4).
For ground, we used a close-by Phillips-head screw and a D-ring attached to the light’s wire.

Originally I opted for a single gauge pod that attached to the stock A-pillar, I have since ordered an SRT-10 single guage pod, I think it looks a lot cleaner.

Bob

Just did my gauges yesterday. For my 04.5, the dimmer wire is the orange with the brown stripe, on the bottom row. I don't know what pin two was so I just checked the voltage.

Hey Bob,
I have the exact setup on my 4.5 ctd. Super easy instal and if you are only installing one gauge, the SRT is super clean. I would suggest using Posi-Tap connectors. They are the best and will not come undone. My local napa had some. The ability to use the dimmer is nice. My gauge is still a little brighter than the rest of the dash. If I remember correctly, I pulled my keyed hot off the cig lighter (but that may have been another project). Did you get the fuel tee from Geneos also?
