Sure is. You can tell the camera is somewhat cut off on top, but I can see cars about 2 lengths behind me. You also can't see the camera while standing, you have to kneal down as it hides under the lip of the tailgate. I can drop my tailgate and it doesnt hit the camera. Now I am trying to think of a way to do extra reverse lights as you cant see in the dark. The camera I got is not night vision.
Forgot to mention, this costs me less than $50 and took me about an hour to install.
I like that idea, and as for taking the tailgate off, there are 2 quick disconnects. Power and video. The video is simple RCA and power is like your laptop power plug. Very easy, but I never thought of that and don't remove my tailgate.

Like I said, took me about an hour to run the wire and drill the holes for the mount of the camera and monitor. All in all, it went well and I am now working on some additional backup lights to give me better night vision.
Oh yeah, and my stuff was delivered in like 3 business days.
Nice install. I have been looking for this type of camera setup. I am not a fan of the license plate frame cameras. There are not many options out there for 3rd gen trucks. I wish they made a tailgate handle camera for 3rd gen trucks. Like the 4th gen's.
