No Brake Lights

The center high mount brake light works. But not the lower ones. The bulbs are good because the blinkers work.

I've read on here that it might be the brake light switch (wherever that is), but if that was bad why would the center high mount light still work? My "lamp out" is displayed on the dash. Also, the cruise control still deactivates when I push the brake, and the shifter unlocks properly too.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. And if someone suggest it's the brake light switch, is it testable and how? Sorry for the long write-up, I just want to give all of the details at once.

Did you check the fuse?

I found I had this problem a few weeks ago...took out the bulbs and bent the wire prongs out a bit then put them back in and it's worked since.
