High Idle Fuel Usage Result

I couldn't find this info posted, so here are my results of fuel usage with high idle.

30 min @ 1200 rpm used .485 gallons, ambient temp 34F.
Includes approx 30 seconds moving away from the pump after filling (without touching accelerator) to park, idling, moving back to pump, (without touching accelerator), then filling up again.

So, that works out to be approx 1 gallon per hour. More than I would have thought.

if you were doing it by filling the tank full and then refilling it, your not gonna get a correct reading due to exspanion factors on fuel foam and tank. The only way to do it is to run a line to a container and draw from it.

Not to mention the natural "settling" in the tank.
I don't know what to call it since it obviously isn't packing the diesel any tighter...but some patient people spend 10 minutes dribbling fuel into their tanks and can add several gallons after the pump stops. (They report that anyway but I've never had the patience to find out myself).
