steering issues

well...ok. since i lifted the truck the steering has been less than great but not bad, my mom still can drive it. well looking at the goofy way the steering links are setup, i broke out the chop saw and welder and set the steering up like a ford has...solid adjustable bar between the wheels and one link from the steering box into this bottom cross bar. took the slack out of the steering box...GREAT. huge improvement. however i still have a vague/light feel to the wheel right off center while driving. all joints are in good shape. caster is good. trac bar is good. last thing left is toe in....should the toe be neutral or slightly negative?

Dude....you're braver than I am. No way would I go chopping up my steering bracketry. You da man. :thumbsup

Your question is way over my head though. Hopefully someone knows a thing or two about front ends. Isn't caster what you put your beer on so your wife doesn't get pissed about the ring left on the coffee table?

rockittboy-In years past i have owned several lifted trucks with oversize tires. I always set the tow slightly out.IMO(With 44's it helped a bunch against the dreaded 30-40mph shimmy)

well i got this wild hair to chop off ALL my steering and suspension about 5 months ago, then got injured and ran out of money. so its been a learning experience thats for sure. ill try setting the toe out slightly. and see what happens. i mean compared to any other lifted ( over 6") truck ive driven it steers just FINE, but im picky and want it to feel perfect. i may just order thurens crossover steering setup and call it even if my tax return will ever show up.
