Cross country drive in an 06

Flying out to Colorado on Tuesday (2/22) with a close friend to pick up an 06 crew cab 3500 Cummins, 6 speed, 4x4 with 192xxx miles on it. We're both driving it back, mostly highways. Truck is coming from a dealership (used car, not Dodge) and claimed to be inspected and in full working order. There's a dealership nearby, and planning on stopping at a local Sears or hardware store for a basic tool kit before hitting the road. Any particular spare parts we should grab while at the dealership? Anything inparticular to be weary of failing while enroute home? My first time flying cross country and driving a truck back, Henry's third time.

I figure this to be a great, cheap way to see a good bit of the country at someone elses expense (fuel wise). Any pit stops highly suggested on the way from Colorado to CT? Plan to do it in 2-3 days travel time.

Thanks in advance,
Brandon

New ball joints as of two weeks ago. New clutch as of a month ago. Pretty well documented history. Truck was a hot-shot truck. Will look into whether or not the dealership has changed the oil/filters as of late. Tires are only at a reported 25-30%, so that could make for some "interesting" driving through the mountains on the way out....
