Painted plastics?

I want to paint my plastics but the guy who wants to paint them says that they are going to chip no matter what over time. I was wondering if anyone who has got there's painted that hasnt chipped.

ya it will chip after a wile... but the paint on the truck itself will chip after a wile too! besides a local place around here says they will do all the plastics for $300. if it last 3-4 years whats another $300 to have them repainted?

I'm having all my door handles and tailgate handle done in the spring. My body guy said it should hold up pretty well. He said he is going to sand the handles prime and paint to match.
