So i bought a 05 cummins at the beginning of this month and right from the get go it didnt seem right. I put a 5in tb exhaust on the thing and it sounded wicked. But i noticed the truck was producing tons of soot. Way to much for a stock truck and the truck was misfiring randomly and on cold mornings it was smokin white like crazy. And to top it all off it was getting 10mpg on the FREEWAY. So i took it to one of the best diesel shops in wi. They told me that all 6 injectors needed to be replaced and for them to do it would cost 3k. So i was furious i thought it was complete bs that i just spent 28k on a truck and now i have to put 3k into it. But i didnt get the extended warranty. So i took it back to the dealer they said they would look at it free of charge. Well obcourse they said the truck was just fine. So i brought out the reciept from the other shop that said it needed injectors. Well the service manager told me they didnt know what they were talking about. His tech couldnt find anything wrong. So in the end i traded it in and took a 1500 hit on the thing. Point is Guys STAY AWAY FROM LENZ AUTO IN FOND DU LAC WI. THEY DONT STAND BEHIND WHAT THEY SELL. Just wanted to warn you guys so ya dont fall into the trap that i did.
good to know, I am starting to look at trucks for when I get home and they had good selection. You just saved me a 900+ mile, one way trip

If you aint' Cav...
Well I just spent $26.5 on my 05 summer of 09. It only had 6,700 miles on it and you could pretty much eat off of any part on the truck (before the dealership detailed it) =). More money than I wanted to spend but I don't regret it at all.

Talk about missing the point of this thread. Who cares how much he paid for it - the fact is that the dealership rooked this guy out $1500. Either the dealership or the garage weren't telling the truth. Sad really considering how much money is involved.
I had a dealership f/u my truck to the point I had to sell it a year ago. They messed up the engine due to a slight coolant smell which they never corrected (it was a missing clamp leaking a small amount of coolant on the exhaust manifold which was found by another dealer after they messed up my engine) and replaced one head on the block - they had to send the engine out to a local engine performance shop because their techs didn't know how to rebuild the new engine. What a joke - so you think a dealership has skilled technicians? In most cases I say absolutely but obviously there are some that don't. The Dodge dealership in this thread falls into the "don't" category IMO.

Yea, I think most dodge dealerships are generally clueless about our engines =(

the dodge dealership where i live cant even change u-joints, was in a hurry to get em changed in the rear driveshaft so took it to them, they colapsed both yokes and chipped out one of the snap ring grooves, and somehow took chunks out of the balancer, got most of my money back but will never go there again. a dodge dealer tech is a joke

I know of one that is no longer a Dodge dealer but they still are one for Toyota and they have not improved one bit and people still do business with them as they are the only Toyota dealer around.

I bought two trucks from Lenz in the last 5 years with no issues. I'm not going to try to defend them, but keep in mind I'm sure they are buying these trucks from auction. They probably know very little about the history of the trucks they sell. I doubt they are actively trying to unload trucks they know has issues to try to make their issue someone else's. Remember, you test drove it. You told them you'd take it. You signed the papers. You said, "right from the get go it didnt seem right". If that's true, you should have walked.
I recently purchased a high end E55 Mercedes from a dealership in Chicago too and the motor let go 5K miles later. Similar situation...used car with no previous history. I can't rightly claim it's the dealer's fault. It ran just fine when I bought it. Neither of us knew it was abused in a previous life. Such is the gamble when buying a used vehicle. People don't always take as good care of their vehicles as you might.
