Hi- I hope someone can give me some insight. I have a '06 ram 3500 with cummins. When I tow my boat when I put the truck in Reverse and let my foot off the brake the panic system will activate(horn honking and hazard lights blinking) when I press the brake in again it turns off.
It only happens when I am towing?? Any ideas??? It is embarrassing to put my boat away because of the horrible honking noise while I am backing it in...
thats actually a good Idea I wish I had it on some of my trucks

Guys that tow a lot and are habitual "door openers" when backing their trailers are really complaining about the new feature DC has blessed us with. Some are already cutting the horn wire in the engine compartment and running them into the cab to a toggle switch so they can turn the horn off when they need to back the trailer.

I received a recall for the "Park" thing...if you leave the truck running and open the door, it is supposed to give you some alarm to alert you. I am assuming this is what you are talking about. I didn't have it done...don't know if I want it either.

"All you guys need to do is unplug the 2 wire plug next to the seatbelt(drivers side 4 inches lower than where it buckles) then put a very small wire across the 2 leave it in there and plug it back in,This will disable the reverse horn honk, the seatbelt light and seatbelt ding."
Good find. :thumbsup

I would advise to not do something like that. What you are doing is disabling a safety devise. (Thats just me though, im kinda like that sometimes!)
The easiest way toavoid the alarm going off when backing up is to simply and slightly hold your foot on the brake when backing up, just enough to trigger the brake lights. THis will show the truck you are in control and will not sound off the alarm.
When you jump the pigtail for the seatbelt it tells the truck that you are in the truck and seatbelted in.
Just my .02

I have run across many questions and posts regarding this issue, and without sounding like a jack***, why are you all backing up with your doors open???
I am not trying to be rude here, but how about opening a window if you need to stick your head out, but honestly, this is what your mirrors are for. I have a buddy that accidently got dragged because he didnt engage park properly and jumped out of the truck and it almost killed him. Personally i think it is a great feature.
Just my opinion!!

When backing up to a trailer it might need just an inch or two so I just stick my leg in and back it up a little sometimes i forget and let my foot off a little too much and that horn honking does more damage, could give a guy a heart attack.
Probably not the best thing to do but when your backing up to three or four different trailers in a day it just gets annoying.
