Full center console removal - HOW?!

I'm trying to remove the center console on my truck but for the life of me can't get the rearward clips to disengage. The side clips (2 per side) come up fairly easy but the rear clips won't give. What am I doing wrong!?

I'm trying to install a Cobra 75 CB and put the the handheld disconnect in the dash.

Solution = BAS (Big Screwdriver)

Manage to fit a large screwdriver underneath the panel so it'd reach the bracket and used that to pop the clips open.

I'll post some pics for you when I'm done (still need to wire the power and antenna) but essentially I mounted the remote part of the Cobra 75 cb underneath the downward triangle shaped panel (beneath the arrow coming off the 5 in the diagram) and then routed the connector thru the dash and it comes out just about where that arrow points.

I had to drill a few holes in the back panel (not visible though when the front panel is on) to get it to work but it looks good.

The main issue I ran into is the wire from the remote box to the connector isn't very long. They give you a trim piece and grommet for it but the there are limited ways to utilize it for in dash because there isn't enough wire to route to where it needs to go from where you would logically mount it.

The instruction manual says to mount it on the firewall and just run the cable out from that but I didn't want the connected cord dangling around my leg as I'm driving. So I disassembled the center console and found a place instead.

Honestly it was a PITA to get it to work there but depending on which center console you have in your 06 it might be easier for you. Good luck.

You will need to slide a screwdriver, or similar flat object, to pry it up. Make sure you slide your pry all the way to to clip or you may crack the cover.

Yep, that's what I did. Worked great once I figured out that the clips were on the topside.

Here a few pics of the final installation to give you an idea of how it was done.

With the cable removed

These two show the placement of the remote box and where it was routed to the center console
