Do you guys have air coming out of your feet setting or defrost? I had a problem with mine not coming out of my defrost or feet setting but just the face setting, big problem in the middle of winter in Mi.. There was a TSB for it but was for the prior year, warranty did not cover it and it was not a fun job to tackle. I had the shop do it... 300 bones later i had a defroster again. Good luck!

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to do this on this site, but here's a link of a guy who did it himself with instructions and pics. If you are out of warranty, this is an expensive job to pay for labor. Hope this helps.

Smile emergency vent fix

My buddy stopped by with this problem tonight. After reading this wonderful post, and examining the excellent pictures, I had to see if I could get him safely on the road with defrost on these Michigan mornings.
From the passenger side floor (with flash light) look through the floor vent. At a distance of about a 1 1/2 feet you can see the vent door. My friends was laying down as to close air flow to the floor vent. I took a lenghth of welding rod and gently pushed the vent door up. When I did this I could feel a little resistence. The door acuated and stayed in the up position and the floor vent worked as well as the defrost.
Of coarse, not leaving well enough alone, I messed with the selector switch, which then shut off the defost, and only the floor vent would work. So I started over from the beginnig by putting a 90 degree bend on the end of the rod so I could pull the vent door down again, and then push it back up like I did the first time. Again both defrost and floor vents worked. So I sent him on his way until I have time to fix this for good .
My truck is a 99 ctd and I had to do this proceddure to fix my evaperator core. The worst part is trying to disconnect the 3 wiring harnesses.

If your defrost and floor vents are working your heater system is in safe mode. You probably have a vacuum leak. I have the same problem but I havent had time to check into it.

My 06 was doing something similar, the fan was running but no air was flowing. I took off the glove box, and reached in the blower intake, and found that some sort of baffle, or plate had come loose off of whatever it was attached to. I wedged it back into some of the ducting or whatever it was I managed to get it to stick to, and it blows fine now. Anyone have any idea what i did??

I just went through this. The problem is the recirc door and housing. I got the part for $16.00 from the stealership. They wanted $755.00 to put it on. I freaked and said no and took it home. Now I know why they charge that much. LOL! I had to remove the entire dashboard to get to the passenger side firewall to replace it. I must have removed like 200 screws and bolts. It was a PITA!! I probably will never do it again for myself or anyone else. My temporary fix was to remove the blower fan and reach up and yank out the recirc door. By doing this,,,at least I had all my zones back, I just didn't have recirc anymore. hope this helps some.
