Back Up Camera

Looking for ideas on Back-up cameras and monitors. I'm tired of getting out to see how close I am to trailers. Also thought about adding one to the front to help judge distance in parking lots.

I think you can hide the front one in the grill or something. Where in NVA? I grew up along the Potomac Near Ft Belvoir.

The mirror monitor solves the problem of a clean installation. How do you like the size of the video?

Iceman can you post some pics of how your camera is installed ? I want to do the back up camera, but 200+$ for a camera I am worried about it getting ripped off. The licsense plate frame camera brackets seem like easy targets for theives. Thanks

is there a camera you can get that will just show up in reverse on your existing screen?

03cumminsmtz yes, there are. I got one at Frys for about $49. They have them starting at $29 and going up to $49 if you already have the screen.

I've also been trying to figure out a way to put some tiny cameras on my mirrors facing my blind spots that will show up on my screen when I turn the blinker on whichever direction. For some reason, short cars have a fascination with hanging out in my blind spots.

Fill out your sig/info

Where are you located. If you are located in a state that uses any salt on the road. You are going to want to spend the $$$ to either buy a camera that is warrantied against corrosion or buy some kind of sealed box to install the camera in. My dad and I installed a camera on his Dmax back before Christmas and it was stainless steel and within 4 months it was shot because the camera itself wasnt hermetically sealed.

It's probably junk, but I saw at autozone a camera that mounts to the licenceplate screws with a monitor about gps sized. I think they were about $80 or so.

The mirror with screen is great, its also a auto dim mirror, its very high quailty, you cant tell there is a screen in the mirror..At first the gentex mirror and camera were not compatible, I was contacted to make these Two work together by mgtmotorsports... The camera is now plug and play to the mirror... Took a few hours to install... Instead of hooking up to the reverse wire under the dash, i used the rear backup light wire in the rear to trigger the mirror and camera to come on...

Once the truck is in reverse the screen comes into view, sorry for picture quality

The camera is mounted on my license plate frame, i need it out as far as i can due to the torsion receiver height and length for my trailer... I am going to come up with something better soon....

The small push button switch (to the left) makes the camera go from straight back view to trailer hookup view, the lense inside changes.. Makes hitching up Solo easy

This is the view when in reverse

This is the view when the button is pushed...........Hope this helps Guys
