I also agree with the Amsoil Oil Bypass System and AirDog or Similar. I have the older BMK/11 and AirDog 150, and those were some of my First Mods!! Good Luck with the Truck, and preventive Maintenance.

If you want to keep the truck close to stock, basic Trans mods are all you would need. A good Valve Body and Torque Converter will help you out Tremendously. There are a lot of different options for these, and you can get some quotes from a lot of the Vendors on here!!

Allbypass filters do the same thing in principle, each variable has a slighlty differant twist though

Frantz and Motorguard - Use tp and are good for about 3k miles before changing
FS2500 - uses a filter media that is in and and out like tp with mileage at about 5k changes

Amsoil, Baldwin bypass systems use spin on style filters with use of more than one oil change (I use my Amsoil for 30K miles and my Baldwin for 15K) the differance is <$8 for a Baldwin and >$30 for a Amsoil filter (I have done particle counts on both and they are very similar, just looking out for the budget minded)

It all boils down to how elaborate, how expensive and how often you like being under the hood of your vehicle...there are plenty of diesel motors with routine maintenance that go 500k miles....so make a choice that fits what you want and only listen to about 1/2 of what everyone (including myself) says onthese subjects.
my oil analysis tells me that the filter from the fs2500 oil bypass system allows me to go beyond 10k miles on each element. I don't exceed that though. i change it at every 10k. then when oil reaches 30k i change the oil (royal purple full synthetic)....i have 110k miles on her now w/ no issue.............KNOCK ON WOOD

Good to hear you get 10k, I wanted to get one but everyone I know that has them was complaining of to frequent of change and the big increase in price a couple years back...I have the Amsoil but ill be going back to Baldwin since I still have 8 extra filters...

Is that a good place to start? I'm looking to upgrade my tranny to make it a bit more bulletproof but don't want to break the bank.

Valve body, torque converter, intermediate band in transmission and billet accumulator. Transmission will be 100% better!

my last oil change lasted me 23k miles. i sampled the oil at every 10k and it kept coming back good to go. all i'm using so far is a fleetguard filter and amsoil. i will be getting the amsoil bypass kit soon though. i'd like to keep the contaminates out of the oil as much as possible. i plan to keep mine for a long time.

Yes, talk to a few of the Sponsors here like Wally from FTE or Gus from Farmboys Diesel. Both of them can set you straight, along with others on here for the parts you are looking for. A TC and VB will help out quite a bit, and maybe a few other smaller parts. Just let them know what you are trying to accomplish, and your driving style, and go from there. Good Luck with the Truck.
