Remote start install

Hey guys, I recently purchased the Autostart as2461twfm remote start. Im gona be tackling this project in a few days, and need to clarify a few things before I get at it. In the instructions it says that the immobilizer system needs to be bypassed, anyone familiar with what exactly needs to be done? Any other tips or hurdles you guys came across would be appreciated as well

thanks

You can not bypass the immobilizer on these trucks. you have to integrate to it. There are modules out there you can get to do it a few different ways. I would talk to the place you bought your unit from for one that will work with your unit. Other than that these truck are pretty easy to wire up. The only other problem you might have is a tach sense if your unit requires it. Might have to get an adapter for that too. And dont forget about the wait to start for when its cold. Hope this helps....

Martin, these trucks are pretty picky when it comes to the electrical system. I have installed remote starts in the past, but no way I'd do it on a newer model Dodge. Maybe I'm a puss. That's fine. LOL!

I had a buddy do it who works at TrailBlazers. I bought the remote start and integrator, and they gave me a buddy price that totaled $70. Can't beat that.

Moral of the story: I think it's worth it to have an experienced installer do it. Maybe if you go to a shop that does installs and they wanna charge too much, find one of the guys in the back who does them and ask if he wants to make a few bucks on the side after work by installing your remote start.

I second that. I have installed them in the past and there is no chance I would have tried it on my truck. It was even difficult for an experienced installer. It took them a good three days to do my truck (they ran into a few issues).

Im with these guys... I wouldnt install it myself either. If you have an 06 up, the CANBUS system is a pain. You dont want to pop one wire and kill your entire computer/electrical system.

the 04 is a EZ model to do!! I have done several in this year range and fixin to do my 06...it's easy with the right parts. And yes, you have to integrate within the system...but it's not that hard.

If you have any questions, feel free to PM me and also I can provide you with a complete color chart for your truck if you need it...OR if you need a bypass module for the remote start/door locks, hollor and I'll price one to you.
