Using key to unlock sets off Alarm

Everything is normal except when I insert the key into the door lock, turn the lock to unlock the door, open door, alarm sounds. Works as advertised using the FOB portion of the keyless entry pressing the unlock button disarms the alarm system.
Both keys are new with the truck and have chips and start truck. 800 miles total. Not a replacement key.
I should be able to disarm the alarm with the FOB or manually using the key in the door lock. If my FOB batteries were dead I would have to use the key in the door lock and set off the alarm every time. FOB stops alarm by pressing the unlock button or putting key in ignition and turning it on.
Can someone with an '09 with security alarm check their truck to see if it does this or not. All you have to do is lock the truck, look for the slow, not fast, flashing light on the dash indicating it is armed, unlock door with key manually inserting key in door lock, unlock door and open door. My alarm sounds everytime.
Thanks,
Jim

try this.. when your alarm is goin off.. insert the key in the ignition and turn it on off on off on off... like u would be trying to get the check engine codes... i think that might disable the alarm...

let me know if that works....

That is one of the approved ways to turn off the alarm, not 3 times, just insert key and turn to on will disable it. Actually, I have not done it that way because it is so loud in my little neighborhood I just push the unlock button on the FOB and it stops sounding. Thanks for your input. I think it is not right but before taking it to the dealer and looking stupid, I want to be sure.

Guessing your truck is newer (06+ maybe? NOt sure when they split it up) They dont have a switch on the lock cylinder to turn off the alarm, earlier ones did. Mine goes off too when you use the key.

My truck is an '09. It should not be that way but I guess I will have to live with it. Thank you for telling me Eric!

This should end this thread but wanted to report for future searches that when locking the door with just the key, the alarm does not arm. You have to use the FOB to arm the alarm.
Thanks for the replies, I know now not to complain to the dealer since it is the way it is suppose to be.

seems to me its better for it not to disarm when unlocking it manually so that when a thief jimmys your lock it doesn't disarm the system, I would rather my alarm went off like the new ones, in fact think I'm going to look into getting rid of the disarm switch on mine, wonder if you can put key in ignition to stop it on the old trucks it sure would suck not having any way to disarm it if the key fob went dead.

Yes, you can disarm it with the key in the ignition. Interesting point you made, maybe that is the reasoning behind not being able to disarm at the doorlock.
I checked my wife's '09 honda Accord and you can disarm the alarm with the key. I guess there is no standard in the automotive industry.

My guess is all the trucks with the remote built into the key no longer have the switch on the door. Guessing they probably saved a few million $$$ by not putting that switch on.
