exhaust/engine light

Alright i have a 2006 dodge ram 2500 cummins, i just straight piped it 4" down pipe 4" going to the with 5" tips sounds frickin great, but when i get on it every so often when im on it it goes blurp it hesitates for a split second like its going to stall and then keeps going but then the darn check engine comes on and stays on for a long while until i cycle the the key a couple times then it goes out. So my question is what is causing the check engine light to come on and why does it hesitate for that split second?

Aswell with that i put a leveling kit on it and disconnected both batteries while doing the leveling kit, could that be a reason why its doing this? Any help is welcomed
