Aero Turbine 4040XL

Who has one of these mufflers? I ordered one a month ago and it's on back order. I was curious what you guys think of them. Do they have any drone? I tow some heavy loads (15k+) and I don't want drone. Where did you install it? I was thinking of putting it where the stock muffler is. On a scale of 1-10 (1 being stock and 10 being straight pipe), how loud are they outside and inside the cab? Thanks in advance.

I like the Aero its not loud at all while driving only when you get on the go pedal. It has a nice rumble and no drone in the cab. Mine is mounted in the factory muffler spot.

And, the switch has allowed me to add 25lbs to my payload!

Have either of you towed with it? How would you rate it 1-10 for loudness outside and inside the cab? Does it really sound like this video?

Sounds a little like the video-that is, it's a deeper sound than before. I've done light towing-jet skis-and I don't notice it unless I'm thinking about it-which is never. I was worried about the loudness outside--neighbors and all--but no one has complained, and I don't think it's any louder than before--again, just that deeper sound. And, I was also worried about droning, etc inside the cab-but again, no worries.
One thing, if I had the $$ is go the 5"--THAT'S a nice sound. But have no idea what it's like inside.

I bought my 2004 NV-5600 QC/LB two years ago. The previous owner had installed a 4040 Aeroturbine prior to his trading the truck in the fall of 2006.

I owned an 8,000-lb GVWR aero aluminum travel trailer; the combined rig weighed just under 16,000-lbs loaded for full-time travel.

The drone was so hard at highway speeds I had to ask my wife to practically shout at me so I could hear her (I have no noticeable hearing loss AND no jokes about wives & one's hearing) as we traveled my usual 64 mph/1850 rpm on the Interstate. I've driven big trucks quite a bit, and I've owned 1960's and 70's dual exahust big-block sedans that were road cruisers, and even when they developed problems, well, this truck was the worst for comfort.

I researched this question online and found that the ROKKTECH Silent Might would work great with the A/T as a resonator. I did just that: the A/T is mounted forward considerably of the S/M; and in turn, it was mounted directionally for the quietest sound.

The sound is great on the exterior (none of that garbage truck sound too many diesel truck owners think is cool), and the interior is as quiet -- or better -- than a stock truck.

I understand that A/T has added resonation capacity (if that is a term) to their muffler line for those who want sound reduction. I doubt it would have fitted what I wanted for a 12-14 day in and out of the truck for 600-miles (my preferred limit).

As to performance, well, my fuel mileage just cracks 19 mpg in town and is 22+ on the highway so I have no concerns about temps or restrictions. The two worked well together.

I have the areo 4040XL on my truck and love it, There is no drone whatso ever, the only time it is loud is from 50-60 in overdrive, and accelerating. And the video that was post is how it sounds but the camera may not have caught it all the way, so it sounds better in person. I took mine to a muffler shop and the took off my cat and muffler and installed the 4040XL right before the muffler is bent to go over the axles. Well i hope this helps any. Goodluck. and by the way many people that have other exhausts have complimented my truck and and the way it sounded.

I don't care if it's loud when accelerating with a load, but I don't want drone. The wife might not like it loud, but it's my truck. She can drive her own car if she doesn't like it.
