Not to mention keeping a restrictive cat (all real cats are restrictive) but adding a muffler just makes more noise. I'll bet it sounds great though (if you're the kind of guy that makes a vehicle louder even if it doesn't add power).
That's not true. I had mine straight piped with the cat. It lasted a day then the stock muffler went back in. The drone was so bad that it gave me a pounding headache less than a mile from my house. It was terrible. So saying cats eliminate the drone is completely 100% false.

Okay for MOST people when PROPERLY planned and installed, there is little to no drone if catted. Others just have it happen and life's tough.

EDIT: Wait you said you're straight piped with the cat. We're talking straight with muffler and then my post was about muffler with cat. You weren't even part of the groups being discussed. Sorry man. Let's get some rest. You're putting yourself in groups that aren't relevant, and I'm not catching it when you do. My bad.

You said it's a given that cats eliminate drone. I was just telling you that that isn't the way it works.

How can a straight pipe be improperly planned and installed, oh wise one? Maybe you shouldn't be commenting on threads about mufflers when you have stock exhaust. Why don't you go out and remove your muffler and see if it drones?

What does that mean?

You lost me there. My truck went from stock to muffler removed. Then the next day because it droned so bad (which according to you it didn't at all cuz the cat was still in place), it went back to stock. Now I have the Aero 4040XL in place of my stock muffler. The topic of this thread is about the Aero 4040XL. So you are the one that is in the group that isn't relevant.

It means we were talking about systems with mufflers. You tossed in something irrelevant (system without a muffler). And I didn't even notice until after I'd commented. So we're both apparently not too bright this evening. Haha.

I'm aware it'll drone WITHOUT a muffler. But we weren't talking about systems without them. We were talking about using the muffler with or without the cat. And dang man don't be silly. Just because I have a stock system on this vehicle doesn't mean that I have no experience with exhaust combinations. That's just a poor assumption. But yeah the point was a cat and muffler together reduces the occurrence of drone if planned well. Remove either and the likelihood of drone is increased many times over. As you've agreed. Thanks for clarifying for me with your experience. I don't want anybody to get confused and think somehow we'd dropped the muffler from the discussion. It would be miserable as your experience shows (that had to be a headache giver).

Sorry we misunderstood each other's comments.

I believe we were talking about the Aero 4040XL and the mounting location and drone. Then you jumped in and said something along the lines of "No point to a new muffler if you're keeping a cat." And you said it's a given that cats eliminate drone and I was just proving to you that you were wrong by saying that removing the muffler and leaving the cat still drones like he!!. Then you called me a retard. So I believe you are the one that is not that bright this evening because you didn't understand what I was saying.
