Have to tell ya I got the muffler installed today, my local muffler shop duid the whole job for $50 ( I tipped him $10 extra)....Whole thing cost $214 installed (welded in).

Muffler has a slight rumble at idle and is very noticeable on slow rolls and acceleration but I must say at 70 mph you would swear it was stock!

Thanks for answering all of the questions...

My '03 was 5" straight piped to 5" turnout stacks, it droned horribly in the cab on the interstate pulling about 8K#. I put an A/T 5050XL on it and it was still really loud but it almost completely killed the drone pulling. I have heard you want to put the A/T as far forward in the exhaust as you possibly can to eliminate the drone. Mine was mounted right behind the trans crossmember.

Scrappy....
I heard the opposite. The further back you put it, the more it kills the drone. Mine is where the stock muffler was and I put the extra pipe in front of the Aero. No drone what so ever. But I guess it doesn't really matter where you put it as long as you like the way it sounds.

I've also always heard that the earlier the muffler is mounted, the less drone you get. You guys get no drone with it mounted distally (further away from the motor)?

Mine doesn't drone at all in the stock location with the cat still in place.

Ehh I mean without cat. No point to a new muffler if you're keeping a cat.

It's hard to get rid of the cat with yearly inspections. Once I get back to MN, the cat is coming off.

Yeah. It just seems silly to have a cat and even think you should comment on drone threads. Cats keep the drone out. It's a given. No need to say "I have no drone with my muffler" when you have a cat. It's a given. Not to mention keeping a restrictive cat (all real cats are restrictive) but adding a muffler just makes more noise. I'll bet it sounds great though (if you're the kind of guy that makes a vehicle louder even if it doesn't add power).
