Does my 04 have a catalytic converter?

I'm new to the CTD so bear with my silly questions-it's all stock.

So what is that big ole thing under the truck that is about halfway in the exhaust? Just a muffler? Could I run off road diesel with the higher sulfur content no problem? My brother-in-law thinks there is going to be a fuel shortage in the near future and they are storing up diesel.

cats were included with the 2004.5 models, what you see is probably a resonator unless yours is actually a 2004.5 model (325 hp) and not an 04 (305 hp). either way your motor will love the extra sulfur in the off road diesel

Mine has something in there that I assumed was a cat also. Mine is a 305 truck. Bought it with a Banks exhaust already on it, guess a cat back system. My first diesel, so don't know what is under this thing yet. My leg is jacked up right now, so I won't be crawling under there to check it out for a few more days

So if I cut out the resonator will I get any mpg gains? Will it be louder in the cab at 75mph??

I'm pretty happy with the sound of my truck, so don't need it louder. But better mpg would be cool
